The goal of LEGUS Affinity Groups is to ensure clients whose needs are world wide are paired with a single, experienced lawyer capable of heading a team. Affinity Group members collaborate with other group members on a regular basis not only to share the best practices, but to address niche-specific needs and challenges of clients.

This leaves firms of similar size and client base in the same practice areas free to serve clients without fear of competitive issues. It also allows potential clients who are searching for quality lawyers to expand geographical boundaries and build referral lists.

LEGUS considers this an exciting new initiative which is not widely utilized by most law firms. Instead of conferring with a single lawyer, a client in too many cases is instead shuffled between different personnel in a company. Business Law

The members of the Legus International Business Law Affinity Group provide a full range of legal services involving business relationships between parties, as governed by contract and affected by statutory and regulatory provisions. The legal services cover a variety of matters including business formation, shareholders and managers relationships, advising on daily business issues, navigating complex commercial transactions, dealing with employment and labor issues implicated in business transactions, contract review and drafting, mergers, acquisitions and succession planning, lending transactions, financial services, business to business disputes, internal business disputes and conflict of laws issues related to the operation of companies and pertinent litigation. The members of the LEGUS Construction Affinity Group have vast experience in construction law including: construction defects and deficiencies relating to residential and commercial construction including roofing defects, water intrusion, structural life safety issues, construction delays; liens, insurance coverage disputes – negotiations and resolution of insurance claims relating to rebuilding, mold and mildew claims, construction contracts and related documents including loan documentation as well as other major issues before, during and after construction.

Environmental

The members of the LEGUS Environmental Affinity Group provide environmental counseling to its clients across the entire spectrum of environmental issues. Insolvency, Bankruptcy and Restructuring

The members of the LEGUS Insolvency, Bankruptcy and Restructuring Affinity Group focus their efforts on issues regarding bankruptcy and business reorganization of clients who face complex cases including evaluating and structuring reorganization alternatives both from a creditor’s and debtor’s perspective, structuring sales and financial transactions in order to avoid adverse consequences, handling workouts and reorganizations for debtors and creditors, conducting liquidations as well as other insolvency, bankruptcy and restructuring issues facing businesses.

Intellectual Property

The members of the LEGUS Intellectual Property Affinity Group assist clients to obtain, protect and commercialize their intellectual property rights around the world through patents, design, trademark and copyright registrations, trade secret protection, and additional IP rights available in different jurisdictions. In addition to registration services, the members of the affinity group deal with transactional aspects such as licensing, research and development agreements, IP sale and assignment, and structuring other IP-related commercialization transactions.
